The 2016 TMS 402 Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures contains two major technical changes. One is the addition of shear friction provisions and the other is a change to anchor bolt requirements. There were numerous other minor technical changes and some format and editorial changes. These changes are covered and examples are provided illustrating the application of the provisions. Changes in ASCE 7-16 and the 2018 IBC that affect masonry are also covered.
