The most popular concrete floor system in the United States and abroad is made of post-tensioned concrete, yet most universities do not offer a course in post-tensioned concrete design. At best, some universities offer a course in Prestressed Concrete, which typically focuses on simply supported precast beams with straight, bonded strands. Therefore, many young engineers are tasked with using complicated post-tensioning software without the knowledge of what the software does in the design process.

ICC SKGA is proud to announce a complete online course in post-tensioned concrete design. This same course has been taught by Dirk Bondy, S.E. at UCLA and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for over a decade, and now it will be made available to everyone. The course will be taught by Dirk Bondy and Bryan Allred, both registered structural engineers in multiple states including California, with extensive practice and teaching experience.

 

Topics covered include:

PART 1

  • Equivalent loads
  • Service stress checks in statically determinate and indeterminate systems, moment redistribution
  • Load balancingzFlexural strength and demand including secondary effects, and beam shear design

 

PART 2

  • Design of One- and Two-way slabs using combination of hand calculations and software
