Frame of Reference: Steel Moment Frames Explained (Recording)
Damon Ho, M.S., P.E., is an Engineering Supervisor for Simpson Strong-Tie. His efforts are focused on customer and staff technical support for moment frame design and fabrication. His design projects have included steel and concrete commercial buildings, multi-story cold-formed steel framed buildings, retrofit of existing light-framed commercial buildings. Damon received his undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering and his MBA from California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo. After practicing structural engineering in Southern California, he went on to obtain a Masters in Civil Engineering from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Damon was also a member of the Cal Poly Architectural Engineering faculty from 2001 to 2007.
Brandon Winter is a Senior Branch Engineer at Simpson Strong-Tie working out of our Northern California facility since 2014. His focus at Simpson Strong-Tie is providing customer support and training on Lateral Systems, with an emphasis on the Special Moment Frame product lines. Project designs and support include soft story retrofits in the Bay Area, residential & commercial retrofits and new construction, URM retrofits, and technical design support for structural steel projects including commercial, school, airport, and office buildings. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2005. From 2005 to 2014, Brandon practiced structural engineering in Southern California. Brandon is a Registered Professional Engineer, licensed in the state of California. Emily Morris Frazier, P.E. is a licensed engineer in California. She studied Architectural Engineering at Cal Poly SLO and has over 15 years of experience in structural design prior to joining the Simpson Strong-Tie team. That experience includes analysis, design, and detailing of commercial, residential, and military structures. She served as the captain of the soft-story retrofit team, and has performed evaluations and forensic reports for existing structures. For the past 10 years she has served as a subject matter expert for the California PE Seismic exam. As the structural steel Field Engineer for Simpson Strong-Tie she helps engineers build safer, stronger, and more resilient steel structures. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband Travis and their 70 lb. puppy.
